Hi! Well the fascination started around my first year in college. It was just extremely frustrating for me then to have my makeup done by somebody else and end up looking like a different person. It was also around that time that YouTube was picking up, and it was there that I discovered Michelle Phan. :)

Inevitable Stuff You'll Get When I'm Your Girl

I am currently living the life of the unemployed and although I have been busy job hunting I still find myself with tons of free time which I spend alone at home (and other worthwhile activities like sleeping). The only thing that has kept me sane all this time is..le internet.

One thing I’d love to do (aside from downloading perhaps every movie ever made on the planet) is blog hopping. Yesterday, I stumbled on Prinsesa’s Anatomy and had a blast reading her posts. This one here I really liked.

Something In The Air by David Gilson (princekido).

Needless to say, I wanted to make a list of my own quirks too: the inevitable stuff you’ll find yourself enjoying or loathing when I’m your girl.

Stories. I find a lot of things interesting and I want to share it with you! There are days when I want to be left alone but when you get me started on something, I’d go on and on on all my favorite things and I would love to hear what fascinates you too.

Movies & TV Shows. And shorts or skits here and there. I’m not picky when it comes to genre, as long as the plot is good (which ranges from “Aww..cute!” to “OMIGOSH that was AWESOME!”) I’ll watch it. I’m a big fan of LOTR, POTC, GOT, HIMYM, TBBT, Star Wars..if you don’t know what all those acronyms mean well…that’s just sad.

But I’d probably force you to watch those anyway.

Pokes. I tend to have this insatiable need to mess with your body parts: your nose, cheeks, hair and tummy to name a few. I have no idea why this exhilarates me. And you getting mad will only make me want to bother you more. *evil laughs*

WTF?!

Derp face. Let’s just say I zone out..A LOT. Especially when my earphones are on. Now if you ever see me looking like a little girl lost in her own little world, don’t panic! A little nudge usually brings me back to Earth..or food. Food works better I SWEAR! :D

FOOD. THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE! The sole reason why my tummy has enslaved me for years! Not that I mind though. I may look like a malnourished teenager but I do love to eat. In fact, I enjoy several “small” snacks throughout the day. Food trips are pretty much my thing!

And Coke..coke is the most perfect thing in the world.

Spontaneous Dance Moves. It really doesn’t matter whether I’m at home or at the mall, I get down regardless of the place or even the availability of music. Yes, I’m a mad woman like that.

Make-up Collaboration: Valentine’s Date Look

I feel like it has been AGES since my last FOTD post! But 2012 was an amazing year and 2013 is going pretty well.

Ahem ahem..the inevitable has come! It’s Valentine’s Day and whether you will be going out with a date or not, there’s absolutely no reason for you to not look your prettiest on heart’s day. :)

For my first official make-up post this year, I have teamed up with five other lovely bloggers. We have created different looks befitting for anyone who wants to look fresh, blooming and oh so in love! Check ‘em all out.

Okay, so I am NOT saying I know a lot about them but being in engineering I have been with a handful of men..the rowdiest of the bunch (but I adore you guys to bits..BEST buds EVER!). And I tell you, they know NOTHING of make-up and boys tend to like girls with less make-up on. Basically, they would be happier to see a polished version of ourselves. :)

For this look, I stayed away from strong brows (used a light hand to tame ‘em), bold lips and lashes. One of the few looks I have done with no falsies on. Which means something because I am extremely addicted to that stuff. But if you want to add length, you can cheat ‘em by using individual lashes and a few coats of mascara.

If you can’t stay away from color, you can always use a lip color of your choice. And if you’re sockets are near invisible (like mine), nude-ish eyeshadows to create a subtle crease will work like magic.

I am a strong believer that the eyeliner can do wondrous things. Really, it makes such a HUGE difference! And because I wanted to look “awake” in this look, I used the oldest trick in the book: skintone colored eyeliner on the waterline and dark brown eyeshadow on the lower lashline. Although most would use white eyeliner, it would look too obvious in person. Best to leave that one for use during photoshoots.

Meet my date on VDay! Ahahaha..Domo-kun has been by my side every step of the way! While I was busy mentally preparing (aka sleeping) for the board, Domo-kun took my spot and memorized all these formulas for me. He’s the reason why I passed. Hahaha!

RANDOM! But that’s it. Just remember to keep your makeup clean and simple. Moisturize, highlight, and add subtle pops of color on the eyes and lips.

I think I almost have all the makeup that I need. And now I am on the hunt for some quality makeup tools and accessories to help organize my humble little collection.

We don’t have many makeup/beauty stores here in Iligan, that’s why I always resort to buying these online. But you will never know the quality of these items with pictures alone. That’s why I do tons of research before buying them and even before I add them to my Wishlist. Product reviews, video tutorials, customer feedbacks..the works. I go through all of them before considering buying a product.

Today, I’m going to share some of the Makeup Tools & Accessories that made it to my list. :) And I’m happy to say that I’ll be buying a few of them after I settle down at Cebu. Yay!

1. Makeup Traincase

Whenever I get asked to do someone’s makeup, it’s always a pain to me to find a way to safely pack all of my makeup stuff in one travel bag. T.T My collection is not that big yet, but these items do cost a fortune! And they have sentimental value. So they only deserve the best and proper storage.

2. Brush Roll

I almost always buy individual brushes. I don’t know. It just seems that they’re better than the ones in a set. The problem with this though, is that they don’t come with their own brush bag. It would even be a greater hassle to keep them in their original packaging! So…

All these are from Fab Manila and are only for P395 each! I haven’t found any other brush rolls that are as lovely (and cheap) as this! :D

3. Brush Guards

Same reason as number two. :) Besides, the brush guards that come with brushes are made of plastic and it annoys me as hell whenever they stick on the ferrules! Brush guards are perfect for maintaining the shape of your brushes especially during drying brushes after a good long wash.

I just learned about this contest last weekend so it’s kinda late sending an entry (though deadline for submission of videos is on May 31,2012). But anyway, this is my entry to DulceCandy87’s 600,000 Subbies Contest! :D IKR? That’s a BIG number. Definitely something worth celebrating. Congratulations DulceCandy87!

The biggest challenge for me while making this look was making the cut crease. My crease is not as defined as hers and it took me a LONG time before finally getting both eyes even. :D

Here’s a closer look at my eye make-up:

This is a gorgeous look! It’s all about the eyes for this one! Thus, the huge false eyelashes and nude pink lip. :) I wasn’t able to show you on the video, but I already had foundation on, and did contouring and highlighting after the eye makeup.

Dark Shadows’ Angelique Inspired Makeup Tutorial

“And burn, baby, burn!” Don’t you just love her? I don’t know about you, but I secretly wish for Barnabas and Angelique to end up together. They’re such a sexy couple! Here’s my take on Angelique’s makeup which is inspired by the one she wore during the Collins’ Ball. My Dark Shadows’ Angelique Inspired Makeup Tutorial can be viewed at my new Youtube Channel. :)

I love her so much that I even did my hair! My curling iron has failed me countless times (or I just suck at it) so I decided to try out Curlformers instead. They are all the rave online! And now I know why. They DO work! :D And to think I used these on dry hair with no curling or hair products whatsoever (except for hair spray to make the curls last longer).

Angelique and I clearly have different skin tones. So in an effort to be true to the look, I used a foundation which is two shades lighter than mine. But you used BB Cream! I know. But BB Cream can be used as moisturizer, face primer or foundation. Owkies? :)

Smokey Cat Eye Makeup Tutorial

This post is way overdue! But better late than never right? :D Anyway, a good friend of mine, Carla, sent me pictures for makeup inspiration…all were gorgeous looks! But I decided to do the easy one first. :)

And here we have, the smokey cat eye. Who says only eyeliners can make your eyes look feline? You can do the same with eyeshadows as well. If you want a cleaner more precise cat eye shape, then I suggest placing a tape at the corners of your eyes. I’ll make a tutorial using this technique tomorrow. :)

I don’t know if you noticed, but I had my eyebrows done on this video! :D I look weird, but it does make my eye makeup look..cleaner. Gosh! I have never seen my brows look so tamed!

And about the lashes, gah! I do not understand what happened. But I’m pretty sure the box contained eyelashes for both the left eye. T^T I really didn’t notice it until I took pictures for the final look. My apologies.

Anyhoo, watch out for my makeup tutorial that will be live over the weekend! I just watched “Dark Shadows” last wednesday and I knew I just had to do an FOTD inspired by one of their characters. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp…perfect combination! However, I expected a little too much from the trailer. Dark Shadows is a good movie nonetheless.
