DulceCandy87’s Contest Entry: Arbian Eyes

I just learned about this contest last weekend so it’s kinda late sending an entry (though deadline for submission of videos is on May 31,2012). But anyway, this is my entry to DulceCandy87’s 600,000 Subbies Contest! :D IKR? That’s a BIG number. Definitely something worth celebrating. Congratulations DulceCandy87!

The biggest challenge for me while making this look was making the cut crease. My crease is not as defined as hers and it took me a LONG time before finally getting both eyes even. :D

Here’s a closer look at my eye make-up:

This is a gorgeous look! It’s all about the eyes for this one! Thus, the huge false eyelashes and nude pink lip. :) I wasn’t able to show you on the video, but I already had foundation on, and did contouring and highlighting after the eye makeup.

You can view my contest entry for DulceCandy87’s Contest over at my Youtube Channel. :) The original makeup tutorial can be viewed here.

I know there are a lot of entries and looking at the other videos, I have a teeny tiny chance of ever winning this contest. T.T But there’s no harm in trying and I had fun doing this look! This is probably the most creative eye makeup I have done so far. :)

Crossing my fingers on this one! <3

P.S. I changed my editing style this time. Captions and no fast forwards. I think I’ll be doing this more often now. I’ll be focusing on the eye makeup in the next video! *wink*

Dark Shadows’ Angelique Inspired Makeup Tutorial

“And burn, baby, burn!” Don’t you just love her? I don’t know about you, but I secretly wish for Barnabas and Angelique to end up together. They’re such a sexy couple! Here’s my take on Angelique’s makeup which is inspired by the one she wore during the Collins’ Ball. My Dark Shadows’ Angelique Inspired Makeup Tutorial can be viewed at my new Youtube Channel. :)

I love her so much that I even did my hair! My curling iron has failed me countless times (or I just suck at it) so I decided to try out Curlformers instead. They are all the rave online! And now I know why. They DO work! :D And to think I used these on dry hair with no curling or hair products whatsoever (except for hair spray to make the curls last longer).

Angelique and I clearly have different skin tones. So in an effort to be true to the look, I used a foundation which is two shades lighter than mine. But you used BB Cream! I know. But BB Cream can be used as moisturizer, face primer or foundation. Owkies? :)

P.S. Did you notice the wing earring I wore? :D Ahhhh! Can’t get enough of her. She’s too perfect…and crazy. She’s a crazy woman but I love her still. :) Inspiration picture.

Ending with goofy photos of myself! XD I take A LOT of pictures for every look, sift through everything and pick out the best shots for every post. Blogging is some serious stuff! Smiling and smizing in front of the camera can be VERY tiring…the result? TADA!

Smokey Cat Eye Makeup Tutorial

This post is way overdue! But better late than never right? :D Anyway, a good friend of mine, Carla, sent me pictures for makeup inspiration…all were gorgeous looks! But I decided to do the easy one first. :)

And here we have, the smokey cat eye. Who says only eyeliners can make your eyes look feline? You can do the same with eyeshadows as well. If you want a cleaner more precise cat eye shape, then I suggest placing a tape at the corners of your eyes. I’ll make a tutorial using this technique tomorrow. :)

I don’t know if you noticed, but I had my eyebrows done on this video! :D I look weird, but it does make my eye makeup look..cleaner. Gosh! I have never seen my brows look so tamed!

And about the lashes, gah! I do not understand what happened. But I’m pretty sure the box contained eyelashes for both the left eye. T^T I really didn’t notice it until I took pictures for the final look. My apologies.

Anyhoo, watch out for my makeup tutorial that will be live over the weekend! I just watched “Dark Shadows” last wednesday and I knew I just had to do an FOTD inspired by one of their characters. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp…perfect combination! However, I expected a little too much from the trailer. Dark Shadows is a good movie nonetheless.

Teaser for Makeup Tutorial #2. :) Lighting is not that nice because it was quite cloudy yesterday. Aside from that, everything looks like the norm. :D Please do excuse my lashes and look! Tamed brows. *wink* More on that story tomorrow. <3

I ACTUALLY DID IT! My first ever make-up tutorial. Ahahaha..these are some screen grabs from the vid. I’ll have to edit it first before sharing it to you! And BTW, this look is for something very special. I teamed up with two other beauty bloggers for a make-up collab. :D Check back tomorrow to see who they are.
We decided to make a BLOG MAKE-UP COLLABORATION, so there’s really no need for me to make this video. But I got a new camera, and I wanted to see if I can do this sooo.. :)

Unlike my previous FOTD posts, here I listed ALL of the products that I usually use on my face, including the skin care bit of the whole foundation routine. It’s especially important to clean and moisturize your face first before using any make-up because this will help make a smooth canvass for the foundation to stick on. Using a moisturizer before your foundation will also make the product (foundation) feel like its part of your skin. Not only will it look more natural, it will feel that way too. Seriously, you should try it!
More notes on this look: This time, I tried contouring my nose with a subtle brown E/S. Ugh..well, I’m not feeling it. What do you think?

Squeeky Clean Brushes!
Just look at those dirty brushes!!! OMG. After the photoshoot and cultural night, these babies need a major overhaul. Which gives me the opportunity to make this tutorial for you! :D
STEP 1: Choose a Baby Shampoo.

Baby Shampoo will clean your brushes well and will maintain the softness of its bristles. :) I have been using BabyFlo for quite some time and it’s pretty good but you can choose any baby shampoo of your choice. I have also read that baby shampoo mixed with anti bacterial dishwashing liquid will work wonders and will give an extra clean on all your brushes.
STEP 2:

Prepare two clean bowls. Fill one with water and squeeze a bit of the baby shampoo on the other. This way you can conserve both water and shampoo. If you need more, you can always add more water or shampoo later.
STEP 3:

Take your first brush and dip it in the bowl of water. Try to wet the bristles only. Squeeze excess water and dip brush on the bowl of shampoo.
Swirl brush on the palm of your hand, or in my case on a clean saucer. I used this brush to add blush on the cheeks and as you can see above, the bubbles show hints of pink. You may repeat this process as many times as you wish. :)
You can rinse the brush with the same swirling motion using running water to run through the saucer. Again, squeeze out excess water before laying them down on the towel (the “drying mat”).
Repeat step 3 on all of your brushes.
STEP 4: The “Drying Mat”

Using any clean towel, prepare the drying mat as shown. We don’t want any water to seep through the ferrule as this will mess with the glue that holds the hairs on the bristles with the handle together.
To prevent this, you can roll one edge of the towel and by placing the brush handles on the rolled edge, the brushes will rest inclined. With gravity pulling the water downwards, we are assured that no water will seep through the ferrules.
STEP 5:

With the “free” edge of the towel, cover the bristles to keep dust from falling on your newly cleaned brushes. Drying usually takes a few minutes for small brushes and overnight for the larger ones.
And that’s it! Say HELLO to squeeky clean brushes! :D

With the “free” edge of the towel, cover the bristles to keep dust from falling on your newly cleaned brushes. Drying usually takes a few minutes for small brushes and overnight for the larger ones.

FOTD: Two Toned Smokey
I love Smokey Eye Make-up! In fact, when I started the “hobby”, this was the first technique I mastered. Before, I used a single black or dark brown eyeshadow. In today’s FOTD, I kinda experimented and added two silver eyeshadows in the inner corners of my eyes. :D

FOTD: “Sirena”
After days and weeks of exams, I finally got a break from all that stress! :D It’s our City’s Fiesta next week and everybody is busy for the different activities, events and competitions the Local Government has prepared for the celebration. But..I have other plans on my mind. Anyhoo, because I am free from exams and projects as of the moment, I decided to make this FOTD. :D
Okay so..this wasn’t the look I was goin’ for but it turned out to be cool! As in menthol cool! But it also reminds me of the colors on a Mermaid’s tail. From this shot, it looks like I only used two or three shadows for my eyes when in fact I used 7 different eye colors from my 88 Palette from Dollface. :D And look! Look! I kinda improved in taming my fuzzy eyebrows (I didn’t pluck my brows, just used a Dark Brown Eyebrow Pencil, Dark Brown E/S, and concealer. My eyebrows looks better now but I can still see a few stray hairs, perhaps a better concealer will do?)

FALSIES I used!

Bright Pink Lips..
…are GORGEOUS!It makes you look like your in love. February is way over but who doesn’t want to look blooming everyday? :)
Because I’ll be using an uber bright lipcolor today, I decided to tone down the eyes to bring focus on my lips. I figured I’d go with a very neutral eye this time with long lashes to make ‘em look a little bit flirty. Palette used: Covergirl’s Nourishing Eye Quad in Country Woods (the E/S have names :); don’t forget to blend well but not too much so the eye make-up will look natural!).
Face
Beauty Angel’s BB Cream in 03
Milani Pressed Powder in Golden Beige
SanSan Cosmetics Blush in 03 (a Peachy Pink Color)
I also did a bit of countouring with this one. Since, I don’t have a dark foundation on hand, I tried using a dark brown E/S and applied them below my cheekbones (you’ll have to put on a fishy face for this). And then with the lightest pressed powder I have, I applied that below the Dark brown E/S. Used the same light colored podwer on the bridge of my nose, on top of the eyebrows and the area below the eyes.
Eyes
L’oreal HIP Shadow Paint in Secretive as base
Barely Beige E/S on Eyelid
Mocha E/S on Crease
Coffee E/S on outer V
Mink E/S on browbone to highlight
NYX Studio Liquid Eye Liner in Black (line eyes)
Avon Pencil Eye Liner on Waterline
Take a bit of Coffee E/S and line the outer lower lashline.
Glue on long lashes and voila! The eyes are done!
Lips
Chapstick Lipbalm in Cherry
NYX LipLiner in Fuschia
NYX Round Lipgloss in Clear
Simple, easy, and lovely! :) This is actually something I’m comfortable wearing on a bright sunny day. That is, if I do wear make-up outside. :D So I guess that’s it! I hope you’ll try it yourself. And remember to…
